Hillstone

My husband and I had a night free and wanted to try Hillstone because I had been to Houston's back in Memphis and LOVED it. I used to go there with my mom all the time for lunch. I'd get the smoked salmon and we would share a salad, have some wine and chat. It's a great memory. I knew that Hillstone had changed it's name from Houston's so I thought, "Hey...I loved the menu then and I'm thinking I will love it now."

We had tried to go there before, but unbeknownst to us...Hillstone is JUST as crowded as Houston's was back home and we got there right at peak time. We decided to give it another go and THIS time we got there early.

We were just in time for happy hour. We were thinking how "early" we were, but it turns out they are open for lunch so there was already a huge crowd. We ordered some cocktails at the bar and hung out for a little while before some nice couple was leaving from the bar and offered us their seats.

Once we sat down I knew it was ON! Harold had already ordered a martini and I had my glass of wine.

Of course, I had to order the smoked salmon and it was JUST as good as I remember. Harold loved it. On the menu it shows up as Home Smoked Salmon with Chef’s dressing on toast points. The bartender recommended I get a side of diced red onion on the side...which we did and it was FANTASTIC. I'm not sure why it doesn't come with that all of the time.

After we relaxed a bit, we were ready to order our meals.. Harold was torn between the Pan-Fried Snapper or the Double-Cut Pork Chop. He finally settled on the pork chop per the bartenders recommendation. I ordered the Classic French Omelette with fine herbs, goat and white cheddar cheeses, served with a field greens salad. Let me tell you it was OUT of this world. You're probably thinking...Ok, Jill...you're full of crap...it's just an omelette. It was the BEST omelette...almost "crepe-Iike" and they STUFFED it with goat cheese. The salad dressing was to die for. I'm not sure who makes it, but I'm pretty sure it's magical fairies.

We didn't order dessert because I think if I ate another thing, I'd pop. I found myself sending pictures of my food to my family...which I don't normally do and kept telling my parents that we had to go back for lunch.

Lunch, dinner, date night...what have you... this is a great place to try and the food was EXCELLENT!

I can't wait to go there again. I hope my husband reads this and takes me....often. Instead of dessert though, I decided to get another glass of wine...that's the same right?

My name is Jill...and I love wine.
